The Master Cleanse Diet was initially brought to light by Stanley Burroughs who designed this specifically to fulfill the purpose of detoxing. He designed this diet way back in the 1940s and from then on people have been using the diet to cleanse their body from various toxins that have got accumulated over long periods of time. This is a detox diet which needs the person to be on an absolute fast. One should refrain from eating any solid foods and will have to survive only on the lemonade diet which is the main part of the diet. Apart from the lemonade drink which is made out of the juice extracted from organic fresh lime,grade B maple syrup and a pinch of cayenne pepper all mixed into purified water, one also has to drink the salt water flush on an empty stomach daily in the morning and also drink herbal tea which will act as a laxative. This liquid diet will help in flushing the toxins out of the body and will restore the homeostasis of the internal organs in the body.
As a result of this cleansing process one experiences a loss in weight because the excess weight of the toxins is reduced from the body’s weight. This diet can be carried out for a period of three days, ten days or forty days. The diet had suffered many criticisms too in the hands of the skeptics who thought that just these three ingredients could not bring about so many positive results to the body. But, this diet has got a fresh lease on life when celebrities themselves have started taking to the diet. They took to the diet to reduce their weight in a short span of time. Beyonce Knowles lost around 20 pounds in just ten days. Robin Quivers too had lost a whopping 75 pounds following this diet.
Beyonce had gone public and related all her experiences on the Master Cleanse Diet on the Oprah Winfrey show. She also expressed that the diet was not all the easy to follow too. She said that staying away from solid foods for ten long days was really a difficult thing as there were far too many temptations. But the positive outcome of reduction in weight was the single motivating factor for her to pull through. After having seen her post the diet, there has been a surge in the number of people who have started going on this diet.
