Most of us would like to lose weight quickly without putting too much effort into it! Much has been written about fad diets and if they really work, but have you tried the Moon Diet?

The Moon Diet involves not eating anything for a full 24 hours each time the moon phase changes, which is approximately once a week. To follow this diet correctly, you must find out the precise time the phase changes and not eat for a full 24 hours from that time. To find out accurately when the lunar phase changes, simply Google “moon phase change.” A number of relevant sites will come up, giving you the exact minute of the moon phase change.

You must take special note of this - it is not enough to start the diet one hour after the phase has changed, or even five minutes after. Your starting time should be on the minute. During the 24 hours you don’t eat solid foods, you can however drink fresh fruit juice, so it is a good opportunity to get the juicer out and make some delicious fresh fruit and vegetable juices. And no complaining we don’t have time to clean it- think of all that time we have saved cooking!

Store bought juice that contains preservatives and added sugar is forbidden, only natural home squeezed juice is allowed on the diet. Alcohol and milk are definitely out, however green tea and other infusions are permitted.

It is said that our body fluids are influenced by the moon’s gravity, as are oceans and rivers. When the moon changes phase, during the following 24 hours this influence has the greatest potential as it takes 24 hours for the magnetic field of the Earth to change. All this lunar action forces our bodies to purge any excess fluids. If you let your digestive system rest for a day, you will lose all the surplus water and unwanted toxins which have accumulated in your body as a result of an unhealthy diet, pollution, a sluggish digestive system or stress. This waste matter will make you gain fat if it is not eliminated.

For these reasons during the change of moon phase the body is more proficient at reducing toxins and waste from the body, making the Moon Diet superior to just performing a weekly juice fast.

I have done the moon diet on a number of occasions, and have typically lose a couple of pounds when I weigh myself after the 24 hour period is up. I cannot really say for sure if the weight stays off, but I can say after doing the moon diet, I find my energy levels to be high for up to two days after, and my skin always looks great too!
