The other day, I received an email from a woman who was getting married at the end of the summer. She really wanted to fit very nicely in a size six wedding dress. She had already purchased the dress, hoping that it would motivate her to lose the weight. But, with the end of the summer only a few months away, she wanted to know exactly how long it would take her to lose the estimated 25 pounds of weight she would need to reach this goal using the medifast diet. She was committed to medifast because she had some friends who’d had some success on it and she’d tried some of the shakes and the foods and found them not too bad. I was in the same situation over a year ago, and I can tell you that this situation is very doable. In fact, depending on how motivated she really is, I really thought she could lose the 25 pounds before the three months was up, with time to spare. I’ll tell you why in the following article.

Typical Medifast Results Range From 2-5 Pounds Per Week And Up: The company says that you can expect to lose anywhere from 2-5 pounds per week and they even have the slogan “lose twenty pounds in a month” as part of an advertising campaign. Obviously, to do this, you’d need to be on the high end of the scale. Although my weight loss has varied from week to week (anywhere from 1 to about 9 pounds), I used to average around five pounds lost per week, especially in the very beginning. Now that I’m very close to my goal, I lose less. However, I have much less to lose. Even two pounds every seven days makes a huge difference when you’re only 130 pounds.

Still, let’s say that the woman I wrote about was right down the middle of this. Let’s call it at 3 pounds per week (and I believe this is very conservative.) This is twelve pounds per month, twenty four pounds in two months, and thirty six pounds in three months - putting her well past her goal of twenty five.

Move Just A Little More And The Results From Medifast Will Come Even Faster: I believe that the 2-3 pounds each seven days is a conservative estimate and I believe that folks who are in the range don’t do much more activity than what is typical of them before they started the diet. In other words, if you’re only eating the food that they send you and do nothing else, it should be pretty easy to get in this range unless you’re cheating pretty badly. If you’re willing to move just a little more, it’s pretty easy to get out of the lower range. I’m only talking about power walking, biking, any other fun activity that elevates your heart rate, or some gentle toning.

And really, she was going to be getting married. Most wedding dresses look much better with toned arms, flat bellies, and firm legs. So she had a very valid reason to get moving and to focus on firming up. Now the company doesn’t want you to go crazy or to over do it. The diet puts you in ketosis where it is burning a lot of fat, so you shouldn’t go over board. But, the foods are very high in protein and can support some toning. Even walking more and using resistance bands can make quite a huge difference. Not only will you start to see the long lean lines that we all want, you’ll likely find yourself in the 5 plus range also which means that in her case, she could’ve reached her goal in about five weeks or a little over a month.
