Green Tea Diets

There has been a lot of talk about the benefits of Green Tea and weight loss. In fact it is used in many weight loss supplements. What makes this ingredient help to increase metabolism and burn fat? Why has it become so popular for not only weight loss but a variety of other health benefits?

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published a report that found out that men who were given a combination of caffeine and the tea extract burned more calories than those given only caffeine. Furthermore the study concluded: “Green tea has thermogenic properties and promotes fat oxidation beyond that explained by its caffeine content per se. The tea extract may play a role in the control of body composition via sympathetic activation of thermogenesis, fat oxidation, or both.”

This type of tea contains high levels of polyphenols, commonly called catechins particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). The catechins stimulate the body to burn calories while decreasing body fat. The high levels of catechins polyphenols found in this tea work to intensify the body’s level of fat oxidation, meaning heat formed in the body by burning excess fat as fuel. This ingredient has more catechins than black tea which is why it has rapidly gained in popularity. In addition, green tea leaves are steamed, which prevents the EGCG compound from being oxidized, whereas this isn’t possible with black teas. Rich in antioxidants the green variety is also celebrated to be beneficial for:

Inhibiting the growth of cancer

Treating rheumatoid arthritis

Reducing high cholesterol levels

Preventing cardiovascular disease

Reducing infection

Help prevent tooth decay

Improving immune function

This ingredient is used in many natural diet supplements including MetaboSpeed. Its proprietary blend includes Green Tea leaf, Korean Ginseng root and Garcinia Cambogia fruit. This unique diet supplement combines natural ingredients that have been designed to reduce weight by boosting the metabolism, while at the same time reducing hunger.
