Common Fad Diets - Are They Worth a Try?

Not a day goes by without someone talking about the latest fad diet they are on. Magazines, the Internet, radio and television are all full of the latest fad diet ideas. In reality, do they have any substance and are these common fad diets worth a try?
If you listen to the experts, they will tell you that fad diets are not sustainable nor are they good for your health. In essence, the best and only way to lose weight and keep it off according to the experts is to eat well, live well and undertake an appropriate level of exercise for your age.
On the other hand, what if you were well overweight and needed to lose quite a few pounds in a hurry? Would you consider one of these common fad diets? Most overweight people would probably be tempted in doing so and given the circumstances, it may not be a bad idea to start your weight loss journey by selecting a fad diet that you are comfortable with. What you would need to do; however, would be to make a contract with yourself that trying one of these common fad diets would be a once off event. Once you lost the desired weight, you should then embark on a healthy eating plan that is sustainable for the long term and combine this with an appropriate exercise plan.
Should you initially go down the path of looking at a fad diet, you must remember that for good health, your body needs to be fed properly. Your fad diet option is only a short term fix and if you are to live a long, happy and healthy life then you need to commit to a lifestyle change.
The challenge for anyone in your position is to take the first step. That’s the hard part and I know how you feel. I felt exactly the same way before I committed to making several changes in my life. The important thing to remember is that change can happen if you follow an appropriate diet, implement an exercise program and forget about common fad diets.
