Is There a Nutrisystem Program That Lets You Take the Weekend Off? Details About Nutrisystem Flex
Posted by fitnessguru in Prescription Diet Drugs, Weight Loss on April 22nd, 2009
Yesterday, I received an email from someone who asked if it is true that you get to take 2 days off (or have weekends free) on the Nutrisystem diet. There is a new plan called Nutrisystem Flex that allows this. I will go over the details and the pricing on this new option in the following article.
How Does Nutrisystem Flex Work?: OK, here’s the details. On this new plan, you are on the diet for five days out of the week and you get to take two days off. (Incidentally, you don’t have to take the weekend off. You can chose any two days that work best for you. But, most people go for when the work week is over because this allows them some flexibility and allows them to enjoy meals with their families.)
I believe that this new Flex plan is the result of many of the new popular diets that allow you “days off” so that you don’t get bored and have an easier time sticking with the diet. The idea is that you can handle anything for only five days as long as you know that you’re going to be rewarded with a break at the end of it. However, you need to know that you shouldn’t go crazy over this two day break. You don’t want to undo the hard work you’ve done for the rest of the week.
The company gives you a meal planner with your order that outlines how to eat on your free days. Obviously, since Nutrisystem is a low calorie, low carbohydrate, and high protein diet, they want you to try to consume foods that are glycemic friendly. They want you to eat what they call “good carbs” while avoiding the bad ones.
In a sense, this is helpful because when you eventually lose enough weight and go off of this diet, you would’ve already learned how to make good choices and learned how to modify the foods that you like so that you can maintain your weight loss. And, I must admit that there is something psychologically appealing about being cut lose for part of the time, knowing that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I have a friend who says that this is like getting the “get out of jail free” card in monopoly.
The Cost Of Nutrisystem’s Flex Plan Is Less Than The Regular Plan: Another plus to this is that the price of this plan is about $100 cheaper than the regular plan. But, the reason for this is that you’re getting less food. The cost per meal is the same, but you’re getting less meals. You’re getting 20 days worth of food rather than 28. But this does save about $100 off your bill before any coupons or specials. You still have to consider that you will be buying your own food on those days.
Still, I believe that this option is going to appeal to a lot of people. It’s cheaper. It allows you to sort of ease your way into the plan and it allows you a break when you need it. I do know some people that order the regular package and just take off on their own (the foods are the same on both and you can pick and chose your own foods with either.) This brings the cost per meal down some and saves on shipping since you don’t have to order so often.
