Examining Fast Diets

Posted by fitnessguru in Prescription Diet Drugs on February 08th, 2010

Is there such a thing as fast diets that work? Well, there definitely are because many people have been employing helpful diet plans that have allowed them to drop weight in a relatively expedient manner. However, it is also important to point out those quick weight loss plans that may not work in the manner that you are interested in.

Specifically, you want to stay away from diets that require an enormous calorie reduction overnight. Why is this so? When you drastically cut your calories, you end up losing a lot of weight overnight. You could lose up to 8lbs. The problem is that the weight you lose will mostly be water weight and not the fat you truly want to lose. Avoid these types of diets because they are mostly fad diets. And, by the way, why do you need to prescribe to any diet plan if the prime focus is just to cut a lot of calories?

So, what are a few of the top fast diets that work? Here are a few of them:

The Low Carb Diet: When you cut out carbs from your diet, it will take a couple of days before the body depletes all the carbs and sugars in it. Then, it will shift to burning fat for energy. This, of course, will yield a ripped look in a rather quick period of time because the body will be burning through stored fat rather quickly.

The Juice Fast Diet: This one comes with a slight caveat. That is you cannot go overboard with it because it will slow the metabolism. Basically, this diet involves drinking juiced versions of vegetables and fruits. Your body will easily absorb all the nutrients and calories of these items and they will yield rapid weight loss. Just be careful about turning this into an outrageously low calorie diet plan.

The Organic Diet: Believe it or not, eating organic food exclusively - while an expensive concept - would lead to dropping weight relatively quickly. Non-organic foods are loaded with processed ingredients which pack on a lot of useless calories while also promoting annoying water retention. And then there is the matter of the negative health aspects of the non-organic food items. Why deal with such issues when a helpful alternative exists in the form of the excellent organic food stores offering food choices that can provide the backbone to fast diets.

The Vegetarian Diet: You could consider this the “traditional” form of the Juice Fast Diet. All you need to do is go vegetarian and keep your calorie content low. That is not tough because vegetables are low in calories by nature. Dropping a significant amount of fat with this type of diet relatively quickly is achievable.

Dropping weight in a relatively expedient manner is possible. You just need to employ the fast diets that work. They are out there and they can deliver results. Exploring what they have to offer is certainly advisable for those in need of keeping their weight down.

The Hollywood Diet - Does it Work?

Posted by fitnessguru in Prescription Diet Drugs on February 08th, 2010

Does the Hollywood diet work? The answer is yes and no, depending on what you are looking for. If you are just looking for dropping some quick pounds, then yes, it works. But what kinds of pounds are you dropping?

Let me tell you what you are not dropping. You are not dropping fat. Well, you are probably a little fat. But most of your weight loss will be something else. Mostly it will be water weight. There will also be a little muscle loss and some fecal loss.

If you’re interested in a diet, then you are most likely carrying around fat that you’d like to lose. I get that. So make sure what you do causes you to actually lose the weight. Losing water from your body isn’t good for you and is going to come right back when you get fully hydrated again at some point.

Honestly, you are not going to lose fat faster than about 1 pound per week. If you’re losing weight faster than that, it’s not fat. So you can instantly rule out any program that promises weight loss of more than 4 pounds per week. Either they are lying or you are going to lose something besides fat.

Yes, it’s a bummer that you can’t lose the weight faster, but that’s just how it is. Accept it and you’ve taken the first step towards weight loss.

The next step to take is to reduce the amount of food you take in, but not by much. Also you want to switch out the processed foods you eat for fresh and items you prepare yourself from scratch. That will give your body the building blocks it needs to flush the toxins out of your body.

Now here’s the catch. If you believe that the special drink is making you lose weight and you follow other healthy principles and change your lifestyle, then it will help. It will help your brain, which will help you. It’s the same way that a placebo will make you feel better. Your brain is helped by an illusion and in turn, it helps you.

You need to realize though, now that you’ve read this, the illusion probably doesn’t exist for you anymore. It’s just time to grow up now and take full responsibility for your own weight loss. And that’s the most rewarding thing, when you finally take personal responsibility.

Fast Diets That Will Lose Those Extra Pounds

Posted by fitnessguru in Prescription Diet Drugs on February 08th, 2010

Losing weight is so hard to do and there are so many diets it is hard to find the right one. Whether you have 10 pounds or 30 pounds to lose you have to find a diet that is effective for you. Before you start any diet you should research your options and consult with your physician especially if you have any type of health conditions.

One fast diet that may help you lose those extra pounds is the Scarsdale Medical Diet. This diet has been around sine the 1970’s and many people swear by the results they have achieved. The Scarsdale Medical Diet is a weight loss diet that is low in fat and calories.

The diet is very structured and provides a meal plan that must be strictly followed for the first 14 days. After this time period you follow a similar meal plan where you can add additional foods and is less structured. People who have used this diet claim to have lost as much as 20 pounds during the first 14 days.

Another fast diet that is becoming increasingly popular is the Hollywood Diet. This is a fast diet designed to help you lose weight within 24 to 48 hours. The diet has been proven to help lose those extra pounds but is not really geared towards long range weight loss.

While on the Hollywood Diet you only drink juice and are not allowed to eat any food. The different juices, minerals, and enzymes in the concoction act in much the same way as a laxative. This fast diet works well to detoxify your body from the toxins and waste built up inside of it. The Hollywood Diet may work well for those who want to fit in that dress or pants for a special occasion.

The Grapefruit Diet is another fast diet that has been around for ages. It came into existence around the 1930’s and gained early popularity through word of mouth. This fast diet promises rapid weight loss results and is really designed for short term use.

While on the Grapefruit Diet, dieters stick to a moderate protein diet that is low in carbohydrates. The premise of this fast diet is that the ingredients in the grapefruit help to trigger the burning of fat when eaten with protein and thus resulting in weight loss. It is thought that adding grapefruit helps to lower insulin levels in the body which promotes weight loss.

The Cabbage Soup Diet is a fast diet that promises to help you lose 10 pounds in one week. While on this diet you eat all the cabbage soup you want as well as some fruits, vegetables, milk, and meat. The Cabbage Soup Diet, again, as with most other fast diets is not designed to help you achieve long term weight loss goals. This diet is a very low in calories and dieters eat the same food for the duration of the diet.

One important factor to consider about fast diets that will help you lose those extra pounds is they are generally all designed for rapid weight loss and short term use. Most of the weight that is lost is from fluid loss and some fat. While losing those extra pounds with a fast diet may be a short term alternative you should always be prepared to supplement these diets with a long term diet that consists of healthy eating and exercise.

Do you wish to trim some inches off your hips, waist, and thighs? If you seem to be battling against obesity then have no fear because The Fat Flush Diet is here to your rescue!

This special diet works to detoxify the liver in order that the harmful toxins can get off the body with ease. Because it is the liver that is tasked to filter toxins in the body, this is also the organ wherein toxins are deposited. The liver is the organ mostly responsible for the process of burning fat, many experts believe in this notion. By the time when toxins are so great that they can overwhelm the liver, the organ is compromised.

Once you wish to undergo the Fat Flush Diet, there stages are needed. The first stage would prohibit the intake of almost all types of food, except fruits, vegetables, and a little amount of protein. During the next stages, there is the additional need for healthy carbohydrates that must be taken in moderation.

The Fat Flush Diet is excellent because it promote the awareness in food intake moderation and calorie counting as it further improves self worth so practitioner can live their life to the fullest. By making sure that one gets adequate sleep everyday, drinking enough water, popping the right supplements, and doing physical activities-a person can speed up the dieting process.

The stages of The Fat Flush Diet include:

1. Stage One

This is done during the first two weeks which will restrict the practitioner to take only 1100 to 1200 calorie per day. This is done to hamper the reduction of water retention and to promote fat loss. During this stage, the consumption of sugar, oil, alcohol, margarine, starchy vegetables, grains, cereal, bread, and dairy products are highly restricted. This stage will offer a jumpstart to weight loss hence staggering results are expected. Fats start to melt away.

2. Stage Two

During the second stage, the 1200 to 1500 calories per day will be allowed. The plan here is to go through the diet with the anticipation of the desired weight.

The second stage is for people with extra weight to lose and this will allow the person to have a variety of food choices.

3. Stage Three

This is the particular stage for maintenance. During this time, the restriction of 1500 or more calories is allowed. Carbohydrates and grains (gluten free) can now be consumed. This is the time when a person will allow the body to sustain and maintain the desired weight.

Pros and Cons

By going for The Fat Flush Diet, the person will submit themselves to the most complete process of weight loss. There are wide ranges of success stories that allow people to realize the diet’s effectiveness. People who have the heart to follow the diet cover to cover are those that are bound to see positive results. On the other hand, the downside here is that during the first stage, there is not enough calorie levels that will sustain the daily activity of some people, specially men.

I have to admit that I’ve been receiving questions about this diet plan for a while and waited until now to write an article about it. The reason for this is partially because I don’t have any personal experience with the New Lifestyle diet. My experience lies with Medifast. However, after doing some research on the newer diet for a while, I’m going to offer some basic comparisons between the two diets in the following article.

The Basic Outline Of Both Diets And The Foods Offered Are Somewhat Similar: Actually when I first looked at the foods for New Lifestyle, I was wondering if I was on the wrong website. The foods are very similar to those offered on Medifast. What I mean by this is that the shakes, protein bars, soups, stews, cereals, chips, and hot chocolates are all there. The two overlap very much in this regard.

Also, the idea of both diets is meal replacement. You’re basically asked to eat the food that the diet company provides rather than your regular meals. Both of these plans have you eating 5 (Medifast) to 7 (New Lifestyle) meals per day and then one healthy meal that you make yourself which is mostly based on lean protein and low glycemic vegetables.

So your experience on both of these diets might be similar in terms of eating small meals often (most of which you don’t make yourself) and then eating a main meal once per day. In general, the foods should be high in proteins and low in sugars and carbs so that your body can get into ketosis where it’s not burning carbs but is burning your own body fat. This is what supposedly makes both of these diets work.

Costs Comparison: Both of these diet plans offer packages as well as individual items for sale. In my experience, most dieters will opt for the package as this makes the cost per unit quite a bit cheaper. I’ve been noticing this perception that New Lifestyle is cheaper, but I don’t find that to be the case in real life. Yes, if you compare both basic women’s programs, New Lifestyle runs $273.00 and Medifast runs $299. But, this does not tell the whole story. Because, at least from my own experience, Medifast almost always offers very generous coupons which take your price on a package down by at least $50 in many cases. This alone makes a huge difference and they will often offer free food.

The Questionable Ingredients In The New Lifestyle Diet Foods: You may have already gathered that my experience lies with only one of these diets, which I’m pretty happy with. This fact alone might make me biased. I have had people ask me if I would consider switching based on costs. But, as I’ve said, I actually don’t believe that Medifast is more expensive when you use coupons.

However, the real kicker for me is some of the ingredients in the other diet (which include corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oils, and aspartame.) Now, by no means am I an expert, but even I know that these are foods that are considered unhealthy and not diet friendly. Not only that, but the corn syrup especially is not conducive to getting into ketosis.

In my opinion, it just doesn’t make sense to change over to a diet that includes these questionable ingredients. I have read on some of the forums that the taste of the New Lifestyle foods is not as good as Medifast, but I don’t have personal experience with that. I can say that I’m happy with what I’m doing and with my results. Since it’s not broken, I just can’t see fixing it with a plan that includes ingredients that I don’t endorse in their foods. I would never consume these things in my “lean and green meal.” so why would I eat them in my diet foods?

Mediterranean Diet Beats Diabetes Drugs

Posted by fitnessguru in Prescription Diet Drugs on February 06th, 2010

Diabetics typically have to take large amounts of medication, however recent studies done in Naples, Italy have proven that adhering to a Mediterranean diet beats diabetes drugs! The Mediterranean diet is full of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins (poultry, nuts, and lots of fish), whole grains, and healthy fats, like olive oil. Sweets and foods high in fat are avoided as much as possible. The caloric intake for this diet is generally between 1,500 and 1,800 per day. Only about half of these calories are attributed to carbohydrates.

Extraordinary results were noticed when the diabetics combined the diet with regular exercise. After several years over half of the group was able to manage their diabetes without any drugs whatsoever. Major weight loss as well as lower cholesterol levels were noted also. Their blood glucose level was now under control and they were at much lower risk for heart disease.

The other group of overweight volunteers were ask to follow your typical low-fat diet for the same amount of time approximately 4 years. While they also noticed some positive results, they were not quite as remarkable. Only about 30% were able to manage their diabetes without the aid of medication. This group didn’t lose nearly as much weight as the group on the Mediterranean diet. Their cholesterol and triglyceride levels only saw minor improvement.

The extraordinary thing is that these two diets were not vastly different. Both are full of fruits and vegetables and low in fat. Yet the results were so radically different! So, the question is, why? Some feel that it could be the drastic cutting of carbs, while others think that maybe incorporating olive oil into their diet helped the body improve their insulin levels. Olive oil is a great replacement for butter or margarine because it decreases your intake of saturated fats. This in turn lowers your blood glucose levels, cholesterol and triglyceride (HDL). Also included in the Mediterranean diet is that super ingredient garlic. It is a powerful antioxidant.

The Mediterranean diet even allows for red wine (another powerful antioxidant) in moderation. Carbs don’t need to be eliminated as bread made from whole grains are part of this diet. You main source of protein should be fish and poultry with red meat limited to once a week. Desserts don’t have to be cut out completely, just use moderation.

While the reasons behind its effectiveness may still be up in the air, the bottom line is that the results speak for themselves. You simply can’t argue with success. Never has being healthy tasted so good! Diabetic drugs lose to the Mediterranean diet each and every time!

Fat Burning Furnace is a highly popular diet and fitness program (one of the most popular in the world) created by Rob Poulos, a former fat guy turned fitness author, and used by thousands of men and women worldwide. Athlean-X is a special workout and nutrition program created by Jeff Cavaliere, noted as one of the Top 50 Trainers in the United States, who was the head strength coach of the New York Mets for 3 years.

Both of these programs are good, have great reviews and testimonials. I have them both. Which one of these two programs is the one for you? Which should you use to achieve your fitness goals?

This depends on what those goals are. Both of these programs can help you burn fat and build lean muscle tissue, both can help you look and feel better, both can help you improve your fitness level.

The question is what’s more important to you. If you just want to lose some weight and get leaner than Fat Burning Furnace is the program with the longer track record and should help you achieve your goals. If you’re interested in becoming more athletic, both in how you look and what you’re able to do, then Athlean-X is the better program.

The reason is that Athlean-X was made for athletes. It’s geared not just to help you look better but to perform better as well. If you want to be a better basketball, baseball, or volleyball player, or any other sport for that matter, the various exercises that Jeff Cavaliere teaches in AthleanX will probably help you more than the more ordinary, general exercises in Fat Burning Furnace.

However, this doesn’t mean that Fat Burning Furnace is not as good as AthleanX. When it comes to explaining nutrition and why you should eat in a certain way, Rob Poulos does a better job. Athlean-X includes detailed meal plans which you can follow but there is no section that reall goes into why those meal plans are the best. At least it doesn’t do so in detail. So, if you want to really learn more about nutrition take Rob Poulos’s program.

AthleanX has more exercises and you can create more interesting and varied workouts. The question is whether you really need more varied and challenging workouts. Fat Burning Furnace is challenging enough to help you burn fat.

It comes down to your goals. Both programs are good.

Carb Rotation Diet Review - Lose 15 Pounds in 30 Days

Posted by fitnessguru in Prescription Diet Drugs on February 06th, 2010

AnIf you’re someone who has been trying to lose weight for a long time but you keep jumping from diet to diet without reaching your goal weight then you are what is known as a “serial dieter.”

It’s likely that a principle reason you have not been able to stick with those diets in order to reach your goal weight is that they have restricted your calories too much to the point where your body goes into “starvation mode” which slows down your metabolism and makes it very difficult to burn off fat (and very difficult to stick with the diet.)

The Carb Rotation Diet is a different kind of approach that can help you to stop the serial dieting cycle so that you can finally reach your goal weight and keep that weight off for good (this means real permanent weight loss.)

The Carb Rotation Diet can help you to safely lose 15 pounds in just 30 days. If that sounds too good to be true then you should consider some of the amazing results that people have on The Biggest Loser TV show. It’s obvious that large amounts of weight can be lost in a short amount of time with the right approach.

With this diet you will not be counting calories or carbs (no, it’s not a low carb diet) and you won’t be using dangerous diet pills (you should always avoid using diet pills.) Instead you will be getting access to a system that really works for burning fat fast. A system created by a real dietician named Jayson Hunter.

There are very few nutritional plans for effective weight loss that have survived the test of time and the three day diet is definitely one of them. It is relatively easy to keep and the beneficial results are guaranteed. You will be able to lose the amazing 10 pounds of your weight very quickly and without much effort - isn’t this exactly what you want?

The three day diet lasts exactly for this period of time as the name suggests. Despite the common misconception it is not a magical metabolic formula that makes you lose weight. It is simply a low calorie intake that provides for the stored fats in your body to be transformed into fuel for your cells and burnt effectively. This is the simplest yet the most effective solution to your overweight problem. Often you cannot simply modify your lifestyle to include more exercise in it. Plus, working out has been found to be less efficient for slimming down than the low calorie intake. Thus, by adopting this simple diet, you can effectively reduce the negative influence of all your lifestyle aspects on your body and weight.

In order to make the most out of the nutritional plan you adopt, you have to set your target goals. It is worth being both realistic about and also having a positive attitude towards your expectations. Indeed, you can lose 10 pounds of weight with the three day diet, but you also have to keep the accomplished results. Furthermore, you might have to repeat the cycle a number of times. One thing that can certainly motivate you is picturing yourself after the slimming down. You will have a great looking body and fit into elegant outfits plus the common problems such as shortness of breath, bloating and all the discomfort will be gone. All this is possible as long as you stick to the dietary plan firmly.

There are a number of aspects of the three day diet that you have to take into serious consideration before starting it. As mentioned beforehand you have to keep the plan strictly - that is to eat exactly the portions of the specific foods at the specified meals. Also, you should not prolong the dieting for more than three days. Instead you should keep the recommended four to five day break during which you can eat a variety of foods. It is a good idea not to have a way too large calorie intake throughout this sort of rest period so that the yo-yo effect is avoided. You can repeat the entire cycle of the diet as many times you feel necessary to reach your target goal weight.

The three day diet has been tested and proven to work. The plan is easy to stick to and normally will not cause any severe hunger pangs or cravings. In fact, most of the foods included in it are both nutritional and delicious. So, nothing stops you from getting the right foods necessary for the diet, starting today and witnessing the results in three days.
